EFI live is just a program, and you need to have a computer yes. So you would probably want to buy some guages for EGTS, Boost, etc..

Shift on the fly isan't as much of a benifit as what you might would think it is, you still have to give the transmission time to relearn after each power change. But with efi you can have a DSP2 or DSP5 switch that will give you 2 or 5 tunes with the turn of i switch.

When choosing it is going to depend on what you want out of the truck. If you want a get in and go have gauges and a safety the Edge Juice wam works well. They have had some issues on some of the later models, but I think they are getting most of those worked out.
If you are a guy that likes to tinker, then a programmer or something like EFI Live is the way to go. EFI live can make big hp. There are enough guys out there that know what they are doing to be able buy good tunes from them.

OK I have been reading and reading and reading some more and there seems to be a TON of opinions and help on this board but here is the standard question...I'm new to trucks, new to diesel and new to the forum..lol..I have a 2007 Chevy 6.6 Duramax Sahara cutaway box truck with the one piece molded fiberglass outer shell. (UNICELL). I run a bread route here in Naples Florida and drive about 150 miles a day.
I am looking for help on what MODS I can do to increase the efficiency and power and at the same time allow me to keep the truck running smooth for the next 4+ years.
My friends tell me to get straight pipes, a programmer, a EGR plate etc....but WHAT BRANDS? WHAT TYPE etc etc etc.,..ANY HELP! PLEASE..

THANKS

Guy

I would be carefull modding the sahara cutaway because it don't have the allison. It may not be able to handle the extra power that a programmer would give you.

thanks BIGREDCHEVY, PAT, and all the rest of you for your help.I think with my past of going a little oveboard with my hobbies that it would be best for me to get the EFI LIVE,some gauges, an exhaust, cold air intake and get started growing

Looks like there's alot of new guys here; me too. Say I went with the EVI live as well, what's a less expensive way to protect the tranny. I have the hypertech now, it's faster, blows smoke, but doesn't allow me to change the top speed. I have seen the bully dog shift kits. Are they worth it? Any suggestions?

The bully dog shift kit is useless. I had it on my truck before i got the suncoast upgrade and it worked good for about the first 3 days. The tranny learns its way around it and it will go right back to normal. On the 5speeds you can do the full transgo kit and T/C and hold decent power, but you have to tear the tranny down.
