Questions and Hello

I am a new owner of a 07 LBZ 4x4 CC 2500 HD SB 33,000 miles. I hope all of the abbrevations are correct. I have been reading several posts and have some ??? I read a post about changing the speed limiter and it is 96 for factory. My truck does not have any chips and it will peg 120 and keep going what is the deal with that. There are no aftermarket items that I know of. I am considering new exaust and by reading the MBRP and Silverline are very good. I am thinking a 4" turbo back. Question on the Cat-back systems why are they doing these I thought you want rid of the CAT. Wouldn't you be better off with out the cat and having the muffler. Who sells a complete set of guages with the pillar in Autometer. Or do you have to buy these separated? I will also be doing the Air box mod. Is there a good filter to replace factory that can be obtained at local Orilley's? Anoter you are checking your milage on the DIC??? and if so how do you reset it? Mine only shows life MPG, Gallons used and Hours. Lots of questions. Thanks in advance.

Another question if i put in a EGR blocker plate do I need the Finger stick to block the codes or will a PPE tuner block the codes?

Also how would I know if some one has already tuned my truck? I bought it used.

The only thing that I can think of for the top speed question is that the truck may have had a tune on it and they also adjusted the top speed limiter, not completely sure on this. I would do the turbo-back exhaust in 4in. either brand would be fine, probably whichever one you get the best price on. I think the reason for the cat back exhaust has to do with people wanting to avoid warranty issues with the dealer, and emissions testing for inspection etc. Any of the vendors here on the site should be able to hook you with gauges and pillar and all the stuff you need for a great price, just PM them and they will get you a price. If looking to save some money do the airbox mod, if you have some extra you could do an AFE stage II intake. The stock filter or anything comparable at the auto parts store will work just fine if you want to keep the stock intake. The MPG on the DIC can be reset if you have steering wheel controls, if you don't it usually involves some combo of the gas and/or brake pedal to reset it. One of the other guys my chime in here with the answer. The PPE tuner will clear the codes but it will not block them. You may try putting the block plate in first and see if you get the codes, if you do then get the finger stick. I think the dealer can usually reflash the factory computer with a stock tune for around 50.00 dollars. Hope this helps you out. By the way Welcome to the Forum!

Another question. If i get the PPE tuner and the way I understand it is it will down load what is on it as stock. (is this correct) Then I upload what tune I want. Will the speed shut off come back on when I upload the new tune? I am getting the 4" MBRP cat back installed tonight. And hopefully my guages will be in this week still. I want to have that done before the tune. Is there any way to tell what tune is on it now?

As your programming the truck you will set the speed limiter prior to downloading the new tune. Then once you have selected all your options it will download whatever tune is on the truck now, save it, and then upload your selected tune with the new speed limiter. As far as determining if there is any tuning currently, you could probably do it, but I am totally sure how. If you could get ahold of a GM Tech II scanner you could probably tell if you knew what to look for.

welcome to the DF..
Exhaust=Silverline or MBRP are great choices.i would do the 4" TB for myself, the cat creates alot of extra EGT's.
Cold Air Intake(CAI)=accordingly to test the stock Air Intake on a LBZ does just as good if not better then most aftermarket CAI but i did do the CAI Mod on my LBZ and i did notice better turbo response but i don't know if it that much better then stock.(this next part is a disclaimer)do it at your own risk
don't run more then level 1-3 on the PPE if you want to keep the stock Allison for the life of the truck.the PPE Standard disables the EGR so you won't get codes with the staright exhaust but still do the EGR Block plate.

the way a programmer works to my knowledge is,the programmer takes the stock tuning off the ECM and then you make your choices(reset speed gov, tire size adj.,hp level, and lots of other fetures)on what you want changed and then download the moddified version back on the ECM but still keeps the stock tune on your programmer so if you ever decide to put the truck to stock.
