Factory stereo replacement

I have the single disc player in my truck, am interested in seeing what it would take to replace it with the 6 disc stereo, if it is even possible. I think it won't be too difficult to find one just by a quick glance at ebay, also have good friend that works with a local salvage yard that usually carries good stuff. Also- will the replacement be vin locked?

Hey! You shoule be able to just replace it with the new stereo. You might want to call GM and ask if there interchangable. Or get a picture of the 6 disk plug to make sure there the same.

Unfortunatly im sure you'll have to get the radio changed over with a tech II scan tool. My dad owns a shop and I had to take my malibu to the stealer to get the radio reprogrammed after I changed it

I am a clarion dealer and I did my own radio. I replace it with one of my Clarion head unit, needed adapter for onstar and steering wheel controls. After that you can add a six disc changer on top of that. All of that you can do it cheap. With my single cd radio, all new speakers for the door (polk audio) and some subs 2 10's, amp and sub box I only spent around $800 bucks. I believe you can can replace the radio with a six disc change for under 500 bucks. But I bet you could find a factory radio cheaper then that. pm me if you have any more questions.
