I just purchased a ppe xcellerator and its coming in on monday. When I go to set it up I am planning on putting it onto the 3rd stage. Do I need to set it on the lower ones first or is it ok to just go ahead and put it on the 3rd one.

you can put it on any setting you want...just remember that each time you change power settings it will take a little while for the tranny to relearn for the power.

What's the easiest way for the tranny to learn the new power? Should I drive it at 1/4 throtle for a while, then 1/2 throttle, etc? Or just normal driving? Also, the Bully Dog PMT is selectable on the fly, so the Allison would have to relearn every time I change power settings, right?

In the directions they tell you about resetting the trans to a fast learn. You can go on PPEs web site and read all the directions there. I just did the same. Im taking it real easy on the trans. I ordered a trans go Jr. Its in and I hope to have it installed this week. I didnt want to slip the clutches. I dont drive my truck hard but it is fun to roll into it. I came from a 2002 F350 and cant believe how much quicker this truck is. Good luck

IMO...I would try to take it easy for the first 100 miles after resetting the tranny.

For the tranny. Once you get it tuned, Do a couple runs at 1/4 throttle through all gears, then 1/2 throttle, 3/4 throttle and then full throttle. But don't pump the throttle, just hold it. A long lonely highway is good for this. You'll love the ppe. I put down over 500Hp yesterday with my Hot+2 with the mods in my sig. It runs great shifts awesome with the new tranny. My fiance is worried about the environment since my truck smokes more now!!!
