Autometer gauges

Where do you hook the white wire on my pyrometer gauge? I have a ultra lite II gauge. It has red (ignition), black (ground) and a white. My Boost gauge does'nt have this wire just a red and black. It is also ultra lite II. Any help?

Hmm I cant remember what mine had. Id ahve to say its a Illumination wire to go to a wire that gets power when the headlights are on.

I found this on the autometer website.

What Are These Colored Wires On My Full Sweep Electric Temperature Gauge For?

• Red = key on power supply
• Black = common chassis ground
• White (Cobalt, C2, Lunar, & NV series only) = dash lighting power
• Gray and Purple = communication between sender and gauge

The red and black are the power for the electronic gauge portion to run. The white wire connects to the dimmer for the lights. On my truck it's the brown and white striped wire of the dimmer switch. Remove the stock dash lighting dimmer and terminate the white wire in parallel with the brown and white striped wire.
