Assuming I have correctly interpreted this post, it is exactly the kind of material the intake company wants you to claim.

Following applies to the 01-05 vehicles as an example:

Do you also realize that the stock element is more expensive to manufacture than the aftermarket element? 2-3X more, with 900-1000% more filtration area.

It also has something like 5 times the dirt holding capacity. Need I continue?
Where are you guy's coming up with these figures? Did you conduct the testing or did you read it? That filter would have to be the size of the engine compartment! LOL! I think you've got your capacity figures backwards as well as filtration areas........ Paper loads up much faster than many of the aftermarket filters....

The 01-05 have some serious factory intake issues which causes over heating, but that's because they have 900-1000% more filtration area right? Or because it holds 5 times more particulate?

And I know Banks doesn't make their own filters. I was trying to get at: S&B filters, and Banks look IDENTICAL. And S&B does no tests against Banks. I just found that funny. And not to be rude, but for me, I feel that Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, etc...are jokes. Everything they sell is cheesy, cheap, and the workers around here don't know anything about vehicles. And they are the ONLY places here that sell K&N products. It's like going to Wal-Mart to purchase performance parts. None of the aftermarket dealers and race shops will go near K&N. Plus, when I thought about purchasing one for my Blazer 4 years ago, I called them to ask them about their claims I saw online, and the guy on the phone said they won't guarantee any of that. This is just my personal experiences with all of this.
Banks filters aren't S&B, they're K&N. Just an FYI. They are built to Banks specifications however......

I couldn't agree with you more about Autozone, Advanced, WalMart.... They BLOW! LOL!

So far as shops using K&N's? I work in the Performance Aftermarket and most of the tuners I know are using K&N filters? They make high quality products. They may be sold through bad outlets but the product is good.

I did similar mods to my truck and increased my mileage by over 3 MPG. What a lot of people do is add these products and use more throttle because of the increase in HP and sound..... I've done it so I'm not saying anything in that regard.... When I take my foot out of the gas and drive conservatively I get much better mileage when compared to stock with the same driving style and route......

conducted testing.

The LB7/LLY element, laid out, is 39 feet long. But I see I am not making any headway here.

that is indeed something I never considered.

But don't you think you have a bigger problem?

I can get a 4-5 mpg increase in economy...solely through driving style disparity...zero hardware changes. There is nothing controlled about the testing or the comparison. If I had 8 cents for every monkey who claims drama by merely swapping drop-ins, I would not have to pay for diesel.

All too often it is done at the same time as a tuner. You gotta love the ethics here. The tuner leaves the DIC uncorrected for the new flow numbers, and suddenly "I'm getting 3 mpg better economy". Hmmm....must be the new element he charged me $70 for. But hey, he installed it for free, seemed like a good deal.

Assuming it doesn't cause any hardware/code issues, after 4000 miles in a real dust laden application, you pull out the element and suddenly realize, hmmm, that's what he was talking about. You reset the filter minder, which is now in the red, and fumble around to figure out how to not screw things up worse when you clean it. It goes on...but this is some of the reality. If you are into high maintenance, by all means, give it a shot.

But remember, if you are using this in a dusty application, you are eating LOTS more dirt. Around 10x-100x more (yes, testing). If the implications of that don't bother you, rock on.

Monkey huh.......... These are my opinions and I'm not calling you a "monkey", but apparently your a little sensitive......

How are you conducting these test? What SAE standards? Just curious because these #'s are way off! LOL! Do you really think these companies would still be in business if they were letting 10x-100x more particulate through? They would have a million blown engine claims........

I didn't start building and working on cars yesterday..... I look forward to reading your article next month.......
