adjust on the fly tuner????

Hey guys,
As a cummins guy (cummins, not dodge. the dodge is only an unwanted byproduct of needing a cummins) I'm sorry to bug you Dmax guys but I have a question. My brother has an 06 Dmax that he want to get a tuner for. He wants something he can adjust on the fly so he can keep it in eco mode most of the time but get good HP gains for when he goes to the track. He drives his truck every day so he doesn't want tranny problems. I also insisted that he gets a tuner with a display so he doesn't have to buy gauges.

All I mess with is an old mechanical 12 valve cummins so this tunner stuff is new to me. I've heard good and bad things about all the tuners so I figure the best people to talk to are those that have real world experience. Any advise?

Again, as a cummins guy I'm sorry to bug you Dmax guys, but I figure all diesel people are pretty much alike no matter where their brand loyalties lie!! Here's to diesel making a good showing at the track!!

If he wants on the fly adjustment with a monitor he needs to look into the Edge w/ attitude, Banks w/ pda, or Bully dog PMT. Out of those three I would say go with the edge. One thing to remember with the on the fly adjustment is that the allison tranny will need to relearn when ever you turn the power up. It will take around 30-50 miles of going through the gears with tow/haul off and on before it will shift right. With that in mind I would suggest going ahead and getting a PPE or efi live and some regular guages. Ever which way he does decide to go remember to keep it at or bellow a 90hp increase unless he wants to upgrade the tranny.

That is not true with the banks system, you do not need to relearn your tranny when you change on the fly. Once you have went though 1 through sl on the tuner and ran through the learning procedure, there is no reason to retrain the tranny. It is complete. Shift on the fly all you want. SL mode is logged as to how often and how long. 1 through 6 is not logged in the program. As far as I know Banks is the only one that has a train once and your done pda/chip. Down fall is they have not got the tire rezize and govener incorperated into there system yet!
