Programmer Question

Im new to all this but i try to read everyones posts about things to try and learn some things but i was wondering if anyone knew of a good programmer that has like a good tune for smoke or one that can smoke and also like a towing tune and maybe a little performance..? I was looking at the PPE Hot +2. I thought about getting it and then i would have it later when i do more upgrades. I also dont need anything too crazy to really screw things up. Just looking for some input. Thanks

I've got a Superchip programmer, but it will only smoke well on full performance, light on level 4 and little or no smoke on the lower levels,I tow about every day, some heavy machinery about twice a week and I like it fine,I chose this rather mild one as not to heavily mod my truck,it has only 42,000 miles on it.I'm being nice ti it,FOR NOW

PPE is a good programmer for power and mileage. Thing is, if you get a programmer, get an exhaust and EGT/Boost Guages first...then the programmer. And unless you upgrade your tranny, you have to say under 90 extra HP. Even then, you can still limp your tranny, and once you do, it gets easier and easier everytime. As far as smoke goes....it's wasted fuel, and bad tuning. Some people like it, but in reality it's kinda stupid. It's like throwing money out your exhaust so people think you're cool. I guarantee the gas companies will like you though!

Yeah, ditto on the airflow upgrades. Got to get that extra fuel and air out of the motor too.

The Diablo is a great unit. Dollar for dollar hard to beat the performance to cost ratio. Now the PPE is awesome, but can tear things up if abused. You make the call there.

You can give your transmission a little more life with a Trans Go Jr kit, not a drastic upgrade, but it will help it handle a bit more abuse than stock. Not too expensive either, just takes a little bit of time to do right is all.

Smoke is cool, but at $5 a gallon, how much smoke do you really want? I find myself tuning down and driving more conservative to save on fuel costs so I can play when I want to.

Exclamation

Yeah guys, you're right I guess it's easy to get on here and complain about prices for fuel, but I just wanted to play,I really like the tow tune the best,45 horse and 110 torque, and it's the about the best one..I do get decent mileage when i behave..I think i'll turn down my tune on level 5 to 2 and let the tranny live on,after all i use it to cut grass as a side cash and tow heavy equip 2 times a week,so i can't afford downtime my 02 15oo will not tow a bobcat and a skid steer at the same time on a 20 ft. trailer like my lbz can,so thanks for the reality check...pimp

I have a quick question. I have a 06 LBZ duramax with the ATS programming. It keeps going in to limp mood. Any suggestions on what to do? Upgrades are AFE intake, 5'in exhaust turbo back, ATS programmer, water/methanol injection, Propane injection, Tranny built, detroit locker rear end, with the Fass fuel pump.
