Banks Tuner and transmission slip

I have just installed banks six gun tuner with power pda. What does the trans slip guage monitor? is it a percentage of slippage or actual difference in revolutions? What is the acceptable limit of slippage? It shows slippage even on the stock setting and during deceleration, is that normal? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, Thanks

It will show some slip until the Torque Convertor locks. My outlook monitor also show trans slip and i finally had to turn it off because i didn't like it when i was taking off from a stop light and looked up to see 30% slip. It should go do to 0-2% once the converter locks. I haven't tried it since i got the new tranny though.

i have been wondering about this also,

i have and edge with attitude, my slip shows anywhere up to 50 or 60 % ( but usualy around 30%) when taking off from a light until the torque converter locks then it goes to 0%, (highest being .6 % when the converter is locked) is this normal?

or does it mean my trans is taking a dump?

the 60 % kinda scares me

Its normal. That is the reason i quit monitoring it because it scared me to see such a high % on the screen. When it starts showing some bigger numbers when the T/C is locked is when you need to worry.

Thanks for all the info. I have also noticed that when cruising aroung 65mph with the converter locked the trans slip gauge is usually between 10 and 17 the whole time. Really the only time it is reading zero is under acceleration

Mine runs 0% from 0-50. From 50-60 it runs 3% to 16% and from 60-80 it runs 19% at the highest. I've never seen above 19% though.

so im pretty sure i limped my truck yesterday...

i was on level 4 on my edge, and the shift from 4-5 at WOT got me...

engine light went on, and it was stuck in 4th gear, but it would go over 2000rpm,

my edge doesnt read codes, so my question is can u tell if i actualy limped the tranny?

also will the engine light go out after a couple key cycles, the truck is running fine after i turned it off and turned it back on...

and will i have problems running the edge on 3 when im WOT or will i have to turn the edge down now that i have limped it once?

im not sure what level to tell you but once you limp your trans, and the clutches start slippin they slip easier and easier if you are pushing the stock trans so i would be careful
