Straight Pipe

I posted a thread the other day about how I straight piped my 07 LBZ and I love the sound of it. I have already had people ask me what I have had done and its awsome! Today however I was talking to some people and I know that they don't have a whole lot of knowledge about diesels but they said that I am losing power because I have no back pressure now. I have heard that you do need some back pressure but am I losing power and if so how much do you think. Anyone else who has it done can you tell me. Even if I am losing power I dont think that I am going to change it cause there is nothing that sounds like A STRAIGHT PIPED D-MAX!!!!

you might lose just a little of the low end power, but with the PPE you won't notice it any at all. Don't worry about it and leave it straight piped.

You dont need the back psi. like in a gas motor. The turbo gives you the psi. that is needed. A diesel will run better when it can breath better. More air in more air out.

Okay thanks guys. I had heard this before but when I talked to people about it we were talking about gas engines. I am leaving it straight piped!

Thanks,
Derek

You are good to go. Your truck will make more power strait piped. Gas engines are a different story. But if you are running a turbo on a gas motor the Turbo creates all the back pressure you need

I see ya have 4 inch exhaust.Fact diameter pipes all the way to 5 inch will NOT have issues with back pressure, unless it threw a code,no worry!!I've straight piped now for 3 months and have never had a prob.Just keepin my right foot up,loved the sound also!!!

I agree with everyone else that the diesel engine is completly different than a regular gas motor. Your engine will produce some more power straight piped.

Even if it didnt the noise rocks!
