Just joined this morning. Have a 2006 Sierra with an LLY, does it have a Cat or not, don't see one. Looking for a 5" and need to know if it is cat back or turbo back.
thanks
PS don't like the Junior Member, guess I'll spend some money on an upgrade
^^^ Spot on, it'll have one unless it's already been taken off. If its still on there, then get rid of that useless hunk of metal. Scrap yard will give ya a decent amount of cash for it too!!
Look towards the front of the truck where the front passenger seat is. If you have one, it will be right there, a large cylindrical mass on your exhaust system. For best results, you will want to remove it with a full exhaust system.
I have asked this question several times in other threads and still cant seem to get a straight answer. If I want to install a turbo (down pipe) back exhaust what are the issues around removing the cat? Will the computer start throwing codes that will have to be compensated for or will the tuner have to remove the codes? I would like to get this done but I don't want to end up constantly chasing new unforseen problems.
thanks

Well with the LBZ's there is a 50/50 chance that it will set a code and SES light. Most of the time it will happen after a hard run. There are ways of blocking it though. You could do a programmer that blocks the code. (diablo, quadzilla, PPE, ATS, EFI Live) If you don't want to do a tuner then you could install a "fingerstick".

thanks again BigRed, I feel much more comfortable with attempting this. However, I am still a little bit conserned about Inspections and road side testing of emissions? Do you know if anyone has heard anything about this? Our Town is pretty small but we do live within 100 miles of 4 major cities that very well could start to develp programs like that. I guess the thing to do would just to make sure I keep the stock exhaust available just in case I needed to re-install.
