So your saying it used that much fuel whie ideling? I have heard they use about 1/2 gallon a hour idling. Also, My gauge sticks sometimes. Maybe you used more then after the fuel sending unit settled the gauge dropped.

MY lly uses closer to 1 gallon a hour with the a/c on. also I notice when idling my fuel gauge goes back towards the full mark, then if I start to move again it goes back down to where it should be. I think the rheostat on the sending unit is getting hot at giving a false reading. well thats only a 230.00 dollar part with about 2 hour labor, get to drop the tank OHHHH BOYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!

i didn't think it was a good idea to let your truck idle for that long. why would you? for the AC?

Unless it's freezing cold or extremely hot......I would never let my truck run that long. My uncle told me that, when you let a diesel idle like that, soot builds up A LOT...and that's how most diesel trucks clog. He said it takes A LOT of idling...but still not good for it.

I like it when it is cold.... Climb into the sleeping bag, curl up with the P91 and sleep like a baby...
No need to idle... If it is hot??? just get the mini fan out and hook it to the power inverter and set the alarm for every four hours to start the truck so that batteries do not die...
I know, it is a lot to deal with and I am risking new batteries for it... but most of the time when I haul it is not hot enough to even run the fan...

Pull the negative on one of the batteries and sleep away...you'll have plenty of juice stored to restart after your beauty sleep.
