programmer problems

just bought first diesel, 2oo7 lbz it had a bully dog programmer when bought it. Brought it in for warranty work and they said i had to unhook it before they do some computer upgrades. To do this do i just set it to stock and unplug it.

Welcome to the site!!!

Yes thats right. There should be a "return to stock" setting. Use that and then unhook.

IMO bully dog isan't worth the money. I wish i would have done some more research before buying the bully dog stuff. The outlook monitor has been ok, but i didn't like the programing on their "power pup" or "tripple dog" that well. IMO there is better stuff out there for the same money or just a little more.

If their is some velco on your fuse box, more than likely they had some type of a "chip" on there before you bought it. The outlook monitor doesn't require anything, other than the monitor itself, the plug that plugs into the wiring harness, and the pyrometer probe. Other than that there is nothing to need velco.

No the outlook monitor is on a digital guage. When used with the tripple dog it will adjust the power levels. No matter what tuner or power adder you use if you go over 90 hp the tranny will suffer.

when I brought my truck in for warranty work they read my codes and it said it had a history of a programer. Is there any way to get rid of that or will it always show up even if its not in anymore

I am not really sure. Some people say that they just go by how many key cycles since the last reflash, but if it were my guess they still have a way of telling. They can only tell on the 06 and newer. The only way that you might be able to get rid of the history is to have the dealer reflash the stock program in it or maybe buy a new ECM.

No hp or mileage gains with the blocker plate. It is strictly to block the Exhaust gasses from being recirculated into you engine to be burned again. In doing so it will keep you engine cleaner and will give your engine a longer life.

This is why you block your EGR
