LBZ Rolling Coal!

OK, now that I have your attention... this isn't one of those threads. Yet another problem this morning on the way to work... Merging onto the highway and the truck had very minimal power and I noticed something in my mirror and it was a huge cummins style cloud of black smoke then it cleared then it rolled again, all while throttle position stayed the same. Truck seemed to clear up a bit and I made it 1/2 mile down the road to work.

Question is: where do I begin to look? I won't have access to a scanner until this afternoon and I'm not sure what new CEL I have, if any, because they stay on constantly anyway due to my brake issue, blocked egr, etc.

Truck has no tuning on it right now whatsoever and my AD died last week so I had to put the factory filter head back on to prime it and run and it also would not crank this morning until I primed it back up.

With those symptoms can any one offer some advice as to why this turd is rolling coal now?

Yes, the factory filter is brand new and the AD filters are less than a month old... did them right before the pump decided to quit me

cleaned the maf about a month ago as well... not sure on any new codes until lunch at the earliest... CEL stays on for other reason so I'm not sure if anything new has come up. With no tuning I'm just trying to figure out if this is an air or fuel issue (i.e. - boost leak or injector) I guess I really won't know until I hook the scanner to it. Figured somebody would have had to run in to something like this at some point

Ok. Post back with the codes. Help narrow it down some. But still could possible be the maf. (Cleaning or replacement). Egr could cause same issues but I see it's blocked?
