Removing rear brake rotors from dually
Is there something special about removing the rear rotors from an 06 GMC dually? I need mine turned and most local brake shops say they can't do it.

You have to pull the rear hub off, and remove the rotor from the hub. Its not simple as just pulling the rotor off but its not that hard.
1. remove wheel
2. remove axle retaining bolts and slide axle out
3. remove brake caliper and bracket
4. remove hub retaining nut
5. slide rear hub off of axle housing
6. lay hub and rotor assy. with studs pointing upward
7. take a brass drift/block(so you don't damage the stud) and hammer(I used a air hammer) and drive the wheels studs backward out of the hub
8. then just remove the rotor from the hub
Once you get them off you can take them to most parts stores and they can turn them for you dirt cheap.
BTW they can do it, chances are they are just too damn lazy

I didn’t have the time to do mine (DRW) years back, and every so-called Brake Specialist I contacted left me less than confident in their abilities. In fact, their typical response reminded me of that Transmission Commercial from years ago with the line, “I always wanted to work on a trans-mish-eon!”
Ever done brakes on a DRW?
“Nope. But bring it on in, we’uns can fix ‘er up fer ya.”
I had to get back on the road, so I let the Dealer do it. They turned the rotors with ‘em on the truck, not removed.
Not cheap, but time was money back when the economy was hot. Which seems like ancient times now...so long ago. :tease
