Hey gang,
I'm continuing to research my dilemma, but here it is in a nutshell. I recently purchased a truck from a dealership in Houston. Was lead to believe that the truck had a Fabtech 6" lift on it with these 37s. The truck had Fabtech's dual shock hoops with their Fabtech shocks which were completely and utterly worthless.
I went ahead and ordered a set of Bilstein 5100's for a 4-6" lift application. Upon removing the front shock hoops and starting to install the front Bilsteins in the stock mounting locations it appeared they were coming up a tad short when the truck was on the jack and tire was completely off the ground. Upon further inspection, I come to realize that I actually have an 8" lift with 5" blocks in the rear.
Now, my ultimate goal is to put 35s on the truck. I would be happy to drop the torsion bars as far as possible, but will these Bilsteins for the 4-6" lift work?????? The torsion bars appear to be half cranked and I have pretty good CV angles now. Is it wrong to mount these shocks knowing I'll lose about 1/2" - 1" of drop travel??? Of course I plan on replacing the 5" block with a 4" in the rear as well.
Any insight is greatly appreciated. Just been a stressful day trying to figure out what I should do... Thanks for any info!
