I think Chevy has the quietest and smoothest running engine out there. Hell my 01 has a quieter engine noise then some of the newer fords. I always love when ppl ask why diesels make noise under the hood, I always just say you can't expect 26,000 psi to be quiet haha

I love my 5" MBRP straight pipe. Its all a matter of personal preference and money. Not gunna notice a huge difference. Im happy with my 5, but if u own an LLY theres not a lot of space between your spare and the rear shock... I just dropped mine.
Sounds awesome and looks even better billowing black smoke.

How many 4" stacks have you seen on a pickup?

Bigger may not be better, but its also not worse.

It's all about image, baby...and sound. WRT to sound, there IS a difference. Love my 5"

(And so does yo mama)

Some more input, its common on almost every engine that the quicker u get air in and the quicker u can get rid of it, the better it will run.. I like to open my exhaust right up to its most free flowing potential, also lowers egt's, which we all want.. So IMO 5".. I dont like anything being restricted, as is the lb7 downpipe. Of a guy was going for sound, the that would be totally up to u... If a 5" sounded shitty but flows better than a 4, then ill take it

What? There's no performance difference between 4" and 5". And 5" sounds better IMO, but it drones too bad in the cab. You will get better performance removing a cat off a 4" than replacing it with a 5". ImageUploadedByAutoguide1357751148.523829.jpg

Size is not going to matter with performance...

I have 4" DP back and I am not really satisfied with the noise level. A buddy of mine as the EXACT same set up to the T and his is twice as loud.

I will be moving up to a 4" in the very very near future.

Typo my bad...

I meant to say from a 4" to a 5"..

Yes 9 have a 06 lbz he has an 07 lbz classic... the exaust were bought from the exact same place.. part # everything...

The ONLY difference is the tip... I have a rolled tip and he has a mbrp tip... (straight edged i guess hard to explain)

The angle it comes out behind the tire is pretty much the same no huge difference..

I dont know exactly why.. I have looked on here numerous times trying to find an answer with no results... any ideas..

I apologize if I derailed the thread.. I can make a new one if it bothers anyone..

CKnight199.. any ideas??

It could be simple as tuning... Does your hiss at idle or is it a rumble?
