Judging by problems in the past, Im gonna have a hard time waiting a year or two to change the oem fuel filter, no matter if I have a pre filter or seperator or what not. Its not that hard to change, Pop the wheel well out, couple pop rivets and small bolts and your in business. Also a good time to pull the block heater cord out the front if you havnt done it yet. Does the lower micron rating reduce flow,or reduce power? Does one filter help increase power or flow better than the other?

No it will not affect the flow rate or power on a stock vehicle.

The only problem with that on the factory set up right now on our trucks is the fact that no one makes a 2 micron fuel filter yet that is also a fuel water separator. Yes, you can use that on an after market lift pump in addition to the factory fuel filter for better filtering though.

I was always told/taught to stick with a 10 Micron...... Every book/warning sign/pamphlet/etc... says don't use a low Micron rating like 2-4, use a 10-12.....so I just stick with AC/Delco. NOT saying you guys aren't right...but these have been my personal encounters over the past 2 years.

Officially sold the truck But bought an H2 that is getting a Dmax

Fuel filter micron rating

What info do you have as to the 10 u rating for fuel filters? Who might have a flow rating spec for diesel engines? I went with twice the fuel flow of the injection pump for the Racor fuel filter. For engine oil filtering I read that it is the 6 to 8 micron sized particals that do the most damage to the engine. Think it said that a filter should remove 98% of that size and listed %ages of some of the sizes from there.
