DPF Regen?

I have over 2,500 miles now and I have not noticed a regen yet. Does it show up on the dash message display when it is in regen mode? I have had it out on the highway non-stop for over an hour several times and I figured I would have seen it go into regen mode by now. The last trip I took I was pulling my 9,000 lbs. fifth wheel camper and had a strong head wind which really sucked. I averaged about 8 mpg on that trip. Unlaoded I have seen about 19 mpg if I keep it around 65 mph.

When I had my DPF, I really didn't notice regen, other than the mpg suffered and it seemed like it didn't have full power. The DIC did not show regen mode. Also, there's this certain smell on exhaust fumes...

only after market programmers/monitors will show when your truck is in Passive Regen.

The only way I can tell is if it is going through regen when I turn the truck off. It really has an odor (not a diesel odor) similar to propane or if you can imagine a REALLY hot odor.

Hmmm! Mine usually has a really strong Diesel burn smell and the hot exhaust pop/cracking noise like when you do a long freeway trip....

This is from the book. The D-max can not sit and regen you have to be driving it. If you let it sit and run to long it will display a light on the dash. All the d-max does is it regens on the go, you will never notice it with out a programer.

It will regen in "Passive" mode for about 5-10min sitting, then will notify you on the dash. Its meant to be running when going down the road towing/driving so exhaust temps and pressures are higher to help it burn out faster using less fuel and more of the engines heat.

When it does go into "Active" Regeneration mode you have to park it until its done.

OK, it must have went through several regens and I just have not noticed. I did park it one time and the exhaust made a lot of the tick...tick...tick noise like it was really hot, so it must have been doing a regen then. Thanks for all the input.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is Regen mode? I take it this is not on the LBZ engines, just the LMM's?
