Regen is like putting a oven on self clean.....I think the fuel used is more like around 1-1.5 gallons. At least that is what I have noted.

what kind of mpg should i expect for a hd2500 dmax 4x4,pickin up mind this afternoon?

besides voiding the warenty removing the dpf should help mpg right?

Diesel Particulate Filter - Definition of Diesel Particulate Filter - What is a DPF

I still tend to think higher Exhaust Gas Temperatures would require far less fuel to burn off the excess NOx and Carbon during a Re-Gen cycle with the possibility of some burning off passively while driving.
