When i haul hay its usually around 30,000lbs. After pulling with the cummins will i be more impressed with the Duramax. Thats the thing thats kind of scaring me about getting a dmax, because my 03 really didnt pull that great. Another thing is ive got mouthy uncles and theyre all cummins fans and i would really like to shut them up with the duramax. haha

Don't know how to send you to this thread as a whole but I'll send this way. Found this under LMM powertrain, Title is below. Hope this helps your decision. I don't have ths LMM but do a few who do. There're always ribbing me about my LBZ going up against their LMM's bumper-to-bumper. Humm......maybe!! Anyway enjoy if yoy do buy it. You won't be let down. Here's the goods:
was nothing short of impressed with my 08. We have finally been getting some snow lately and I got a chance to tow our 5625 JD that we plow/blow snow. Tractor weighs 11.5K (weighed on axle scale the other day) with fluid in all four tires (no plow or blower installed) and the trailer has to weigh at least 2.5k and had no issues pulling at 1600-1800 rpm and the allison would not "hunt" when slowing for s-curves and what not like the 48re did in my previous Dodge.
It is really hard to compare brands unless you tow the same load under same conditions and now that I have done that I can honestly say that these new LMM's are an animal with a load behind them. One thing is tough to determine though, is whether the LMM is more impressive or the ally behind it. You can tell immediately tell that the ally is MUCH more efficient than the 48re was in my old Cummins. There was SO much power lost through the trans in my old Cummins it is almost sickening, unless that TQ was locked up you damn near had to put yout foot through the floor to get the thing to accelerate, once the TQ locked up the truck pulled great but at slower speeds, 25-55 mph there is no comparison, the ally is superior.
Sorry for being long but just very pleased with the performance of this thing in STOCK form, pulled much better than I expected and couldn't be happier.
Although the truck probably idled for about 1 hour out of a 2hr deal the DIC read 7.7 mpg's, not great but to me that is fine for what I was doing at the time. Truck is about 2.5 months old and has 1600 miles on it.
Prolly going to ditch the DPF here soon when I get time and leave the power stock for now, seems good enough to the point where it doesn't need anything more, for now.
Sorry for no pics but it was dark and my phone couldn't snap a good enough pic.
