Not everyone has a programmer. Some of us must put 100K on our truck before we can feel comfortable doing any power-train upgrades. You can see from my signature, EXACTLY what is on my truck. Here it is, brace yourself, I get 13.5 to 15.0 highway miles. City I get 12.0 to 13.5. With a trailer, I get 9.0 to 11.5. I live 50 miles north of atlanta GA. Less than mountainness, but very hilly none the less. My morning and evening commute is @ 50 miles. Almost half of that is stop and go traffic (ON THE INTERSTATE). A little footnote here.........I half to work for that 15.0 fuel mileage. With 35" tires, my cold pressure is kept @ 45psi.

I am not great with telling you why but one of them has more energy so it burns more effecient and yields better performance.

I’ve thought the same thing but have noticed something far more disturbing that’s thrown into the mix. Many have declared the DIC chronically incorrect, yet sometimes it’s right on.

I run through a lot of fuel and being a numbers guy, I’ve tried every scenario looking for a constant, tracking the differences between different local retailers, using the same pump or different pumps at the same location, purchasing from different regions far apart, and filling at different times of the day or night.

Operating under the same conditions, over the same routes, at the same time of day, pulling the same weights, the DIC will record the same usage levels. However, fueling from the same source yet from different pumps on site will vary greatly, just as well as even purchasing down the street will.

I think we’re all getting shafted with incorrect pumps from the retailers, and in turn, just adds more frustration to the owners trying to chart their usage compared to others.

I've found that paying .05 higher per gallon can actually be cheaper at times by getting more product from accurate pumps than across the street from the 'Bargain' on the other side with inaccurate pumps.

^^^^ I think this is because of the quality of the fuel you would be getting.

Gas Mileage

JUNEDAWG8-
Just because your truck does not get the mileage others state, does not mean they are fool of it!!!! My LMM only has a banks cold air intake and I run Stanadyne in the tank, and my truck gets 21-22 mpg on a 65 mile one way from Santa Rosa to Ukiah which is not a flat road! It has lots of hills an a couple of good mountians to go over, I shift my truck as close to 1500 rpm as possible and drive 55-60 mph. I don't know why their different, maybe you have a truck that was built on a monday and they were hung over. It is what it is, if you need 40mpg buy a geo metro lsi!!! Just my 2 cents

Hi, all. New here, and been peaking in to see if there are others with some of the problems I'm having. Lots of electronic weird thing happen. Of course dealers cannot dupticate. I have a 07 crew 3500 srw long bed 4x4, LMM, 12,000 miles.. If I don't go over 65 I'm getting 21.5 mpg. If I hook onto any 16' flatbead trailer empty I get 10 to 10.5 at 65 and under. If I put a load of 5K or more it drops to 8.5. Dealers will not answer the question if they have had any complaints. I have already had ECM reprogramed and just got another recall on the windshield wiper wireing. I've already been towed when entire system shut down. I had a 05 but it was stolen, It was the best truck I ever owned and I've gone through about a dozen in the last 40 years. (yep, I'm getting on). It gave me 15.5 at 70 mph towing 13K fifth wheel.

Highway miles no-load, typical speed 65, I get about 18MPG.
Combo town/hwy no-load, about 15MPG.
Highway towing, about 14,000#, 12MPG.

Wait until you get about 15K on the truck. That is where I started to see my mileage climb. I have 25K on mine and I get an average of 17.3 mpg
