Hi, 07 3/4 extended cab 4x4 Z71, about 1k on the clock. Just drove up to Road America, about 350 miles, and averaged 19.25 mpg for the trip. Mixed, city and country expressway, country two lanes, and a little country town driving. Loaded with two passengers and overnight luggage. Kept to mostly the speed limits. Bone stock.
not that good at 70-80 but alot better at 55. I drive 60 miles to work 5 days a week so that is 120 miles a day round trip 110 of that is highway. That helps alot.
Thats true! I quess I was used to my ole Dodge that was getting 17/18 mpg pulling my enclosed trailer daily. With my new LMM, its from 11/12 mpg with trailer, maybe 16.5 empty. Oh well, its a very nice truck,[too nice to cut grass out of],I just wish it would get maybe 3 mpg better,O well, maybe when it loosens up!!!!!!! Later LMM!!!!
I was noticing the difference in my "Fuel used: XX gallons" (or liters) compared to what I'm putting in at the pump have been different. So I took the time to note the differences for a few fill-ups and I ended up with a percentage difference. I basically found it to be OUT by 7.7 - 8.3 percent. Keep in mind I am running a chip on this LMM and that it is likely to throw out the monitor. What this actually worked out to be in mpg of course was a ~ 8 percent difference from the monitor to what I was actually getting. Speedo I tested to be accurate to a mile/km on a test section using my chip to alter my tire size. So what this actually worked out to was this: Monitor may say 18.3 mpg but what it actually worked out to was ~ 16.84. Using a higher mpg such as 25 on the monitor you come out with 23 mpg. Using a much lower mpg such as 10 on the monitor you end up with 9.2 mpg of course.
What does this mean to you? Maybe nothing, but for me (maybe it's the chip..) the monitor is then out by 1 - 2 mpg on average...ALL the time. If you reset frequently it may read more accurately for you as it is taking a smaller range of numbers to get that average...so it's more of an instantaneous mpg based on driving conditions. Anyways, the gist here is that if you watch the monitor (maybe it's just me?) it will typically show you as 1 - 2 mpg better than you really are.
Special note: Lift kits and wheels are bad for your LMM's economy. I now know this personally so I'm passing that note on to all of you! Jokes aside I saw a substantial decrease running down the highway this weekend. Set the cruise at 73 mph (119 km/h) with some minor stop and go on the freeway through the city (friday afternoon accidents..) and some minor country road driving. MPG was down to 18.13 for the trip down and 17.94 on the way back up. I think I may be exploring propane for the fuel economy benefits if this keeps up. Avg = 4 mpg less. Nice.
I personally drive a cummins but Dad has a new LMM. (07 4x4 crew cab 15000 miles already) He only gets 14 or so (highway and farm mixture) (best of 17.5 all highway and at 70 mph) and he never pulls. He was about a thousand dollars or so from trading it on a new 6.7L cummins the other day. His '04 d-max got 18-20consistently (best of 22) so he's pretty pissed about the crappy economy of this thing. I wouldn't be happy if I had to put diesel in that 24 gallon tank just to turn around and put diesel in it again before 370 miles...
guys you should drive a new 6.7LCTD or 6.4LPSD and see the fuel economy on them, what i'm trying to say is that i haven't heard anything better then 15 to 17mpg from any of the the big 3 diesels since all the EPA crap they strapped on them..

I get about 14-16 mpg around town and about 18-20 on the highway. This is NOT in regen mode. When that kicks in, all bets are off and the mpg goes in the crapper.
