07.5+ LMM Duramax PowertrainDiscussion of components that are directly involved in the power production and all that is needed to get and keep the truck moving . Engine , Transmission Ect
I just got my Diesel power magazine yesterday and there was a article on a LMM with a supercharger and still running the stock turbo. It's not on the market yet. It would be fun to have...Anybody heard of this?

It's a nice setup. There are a few people running that setup on the other forum. Most of them custom made it anyways. The problem is that the supercharger company will just make a tuner for that instead of you sending out the ECM for a tune. Each truck runs differently so I'm not sure how well the supercharger setup will react.

They use the supercharger simply to cut down on turbo lag.....problem is nobody ever realizes that the supercharger take hp to run where as the turbo uses more or less wasted energy. Funny thing is.....a well tuned compound turbo setup has little to no lag.......

They're saying that it will provide 50 to 60 of boost..Having that instant power would be great...

Sure it may be great, but I don't think they are fuel efficient as a turbo would be. Supercharger rely on the engine to move the supercharger by using the power of the engine, thus making it less fuel efficient. Twin turbo are more fuel efficient than superchargers because it uses expelled gases which does not rob any power from the engine. You can make instant power using the right twin turbo setup although it won't be super instant like a supercharger but it is relatively close.
