Codes P0700, P0777

A couple of weeks ago I installed the Transgo Jr. kit and everything went fine. The relearn took a bit longer than the 3 runs each of 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full throttle runs from 0 to 6th gear and back to 0. The 1/4 and 1/2 throttle runs went fine and shifted smooth but the 3/4 and full throttle runs seemed to have a delay in the 3rd to 4th to 5th and 6th seemed to follow 5th very quick with no delay at all. As I drove it last week the shifting improved greatly and become smooth.

This morning as I was driving in city traffic I was stopped at a traffic light. I started off from the light at maybe 1/4 throttle it seemed to be in 3rd gear. The check engine light came on at that time. I eased along maybe a mile and noticed that it shifted fine from say 3rd gear up and back down to 3rd. Then at the next light it shifted into nuetral at the light and would not go into any gear. A message popped up saying to press "N" to reset on the DIC. I noticed the line under the gear selector was flashing. I pushed the truck to the side of the road and hooked up the EFI LIVE V2. It showed two codes, P0700 & P0777. I cleared both codes and everything seems to be fine.

Did I hurt it in any way or is this a normal thing that happens? How do I prevent this from happening again?

Weather: It was raining with the roads wet.

That is a limp code. The P0777 means the Alli was too slow releasing the off going clutch while the oncoming clutch was applying. It tied up in two gears at once.

Change your spin on filter. Were you beating on it at the time? Seems odd this would happen in the rain, spinning the tires hard?

I replaced both filters and relaced 10 quarts of fluid when I installed the kit (All GM). I had not beat on it in the last 150 or so miles. I will replace the spin on filter today.

When I was starting off from the light it seemed like it had never shifted back down to first gear from approching the light. I had been driving very easy and was not into it any more than quarter throttle just to keep with traffic with no spinning what so ever. I was very easy on it after that thinking it may not be shifting right and I did not want to apply any undue pressure on the clutches.

Usually the P0777 is a code thrown when the tranny is over powered, but after speaking with you Tim, I don't feel that is the case with your truck.

Change the filter and keep me posted.

Great, I will be changing the spin on hopefully after lunch today and we will keep you informed. I also wanted to add that after looking at my receipts, it looks like I am saving about 3 to 4 gallons of fuel a day now over what I was using before the EFI, exhaust and trans Jr. kit. Thats for about the same idle time and miles that I drove before those mods.

Just an update, Finding the proper filter around here is hard to do! I installed a new spin on filter and have had no sign of trouble since.
