New to diesel

Hello guys Sorry if this has been asked before. I'm new to diesel motors well kinda
Way back in the day I remember having to Start these things up 30 min before moving them.
So Q1 I will in centeral Kansas talking -10 some time a little more than that in the middle of winter. What type of warm up time I'm I looking at if it has set out side all night? /w out a block heater?

Q2 Is it harmful for these trucks to be used for short distances such as a few blocks then parked? To do this do they need to be warmed up some?

Any input on this would be most appericated

i work 4 miles from my house and and let mine warm up for 10-15 minutes usually w/the block heater. it was -20 here for a while last winter too! as far as going and stopping i dont think it is rough on the truck but the DPF might not regen if u do that for a while without taking a little bit of a trip.
