Putting a diesel engine in a truck always pulls a premium. If you buy it new, it costs more, if you buy it used, it's worth more so you pay more. Added maintenance costs? how about twice the amount of oil per oil change, a fuel filter that is not as forgettable as they are in gas trucks, not to mention more expensive.

When I sit in my truck, does that make it MODded??

damn, i didnt know it was twice as much oil per change. so we are talking around 12 quarts every 3 to 5k miles?

I knew they charged a premium for diesel engines when new...im buying used.

Really? I pulled 11,000 lbs (toy hauler, water, fuel, atvs) and it too some RPM to get up the big hills at 45 mph but it really did OK most of the time. The only problem was that it did suck gas when towing 5-6 mpg with the toyhauler loaded down. Although it had to turn some rpm, I never had an issue with mine.

I guess I got a good one...

you can make a ranger full heavy stuff if you rev the balls off it at low speeds...what i think chris means is that yes it will pull the load but it wills struggle and thats never fun.....its worth the extra money for the more power as far as im concerned..

however the 6.2 is a good motor i think it will do well in the new 2500's for the guy who don't pull often or heavy

Did they change something in the engine with the 6.0's between the early 2003-2005 era and the 07.5-08? Because we have 2 2003 6.0's and i pull them up cameron pass and other places in colorado and they do just fine.

ill have to argue about the 6.0 if you get one with 4.10's theyre bad i had an 05 with 20k miles on it and put 35's hypertech chip cai and TBS and there wasnt a diesel or other gas job in town that would touch it i tore 2 trannys out of it in 13k miles though thats whan i went with the diesel.
