Yes, they changed the whole motor. The newer ones are Variable Valve timing and have different ECMs. The truck ran like crap unless your foot was through the floor.

No its not anything compared to a duramax but I've pulled my boat with my mothers escalade and it yanked it around pretty good and it has the 6.2L in it. And my boat by itself weighs 4,000 lbs.

Old thread guys but I have 2 1 tons. The trucks are identical except one has a dmax and the other is a 6.0. They both have dumps, same plow, and sander. The 6.0 is a total bog machine. It has 0 low rpm torque. I have had plenty of times when the gas truck would not move in high range. Had to put it in low range for it to move. The dmax will go no matter what. I also used to plow snow with a 496. As far as I am concerned it was a gas hog with no power.

I had a 00' 6.0 gasser, with 35's bfgs and 3500 rear end on a 2500 I got 12mpg empty, 7-9 towing a 8k 16ft trailer, single cab lb it hauled ass but cant touch a dmax, you might use more oil in the diesel but it evens out bc of the MPG's
