I have a 08 1 ton dump. The rear has been locking posi while loaded and turning. OUCH is all I got to say. I can not believe it has not sprung an axle. Its going in tommorow to be torn down. Its only got 7 k miles. Has any of you guys had any issues with the rear doing this? I also get a very light tranny chatter when taking off. Not really slipping but a slight vibration. Does not do it every time. They are also going to check the warm up feature to make sure the tranny warm up has been disabled. I had read a year ago about the warm up feature causing the tranny fluid to burn.
I've noticed my truck has a bit of a tranny vibration at high gear cruising speeds....its odd.....like 50mph to 60mph....and with the rear....welcome to the world of GM's POS locker assembly.....mine does it, my buddies 05 gasser does it.....ya just get used to it I guess

i took a few teeth off the spiders and bent the locking mechanism on a boosted launch at the dragstrip and i had to drive it 60 miles under full lock...
however i doubt this was the cause of your issues
but you should be under warranty...

It is warranty work and they also said the is a bullitin out on the rear. If I am loaded ( 3 yards of gravel ) and I turn in an intersection real easy the rear will lock posi and try to stop the truck or try and make it go straight. The inside wheels will spin on dry pavement. I could see if I was gettin on it but Im not. Also the tranny chatter is taking off from a start in low gear. It also does it in reverse. They are going to check that also.
So the dealership called and said they were unable to duplicate the rear locking. Pee me off. Every day I drive it the rear lock posi when it should not. I was in a customers driveway with it last week. We had rebuilt her road and hired a hot top crew to come in and put down hot top. I was turning around and of course it locked posi and dug up the new hot top. That is not right. You buy a 60 thousand dollar truck and that is what you get. They did change the warm up program so the tranny does not burn the fluid, put in a new transfer pump ( was very loud ). They said the tranny was fine. Ya right. Its not suposed to chatter when you take off. So I guess when the axles ring themselves in half or it blows up they might fix it. As long as it happens in the next 3 years we will be all set. One of the reasons why we bought this truck was so we had a dependable truck that was not broken down. Already had the front axle fixed last year. ( would just clunk while the rear wheels spun and front would not ).
