Problem, need help asap

Got a new 07 (new body style) silverado 2500 Duramax yesterday. Tonight i'm on the highway driving back from a near by town, which is about 30 miles away. Have cruise set and all the sudden my rpm start jumping around all crzy, my engine light comes on, and it won't speed up. i pull off the highway and attempt to pull back on, the rpms will go all the way to about 3k but it WILL NOT speed up over 45-50. Any suggestions? i called someone to ask them and they said my fuel could possibly be gelling. it was 4degrees outside, i was running 69mph, so i'd assume it was pretty cold. If this is the problem is there anything i can do by morning so i can get to work? thanks in advance

Called onstar and she gave me a code P0087, looks like it is going to have to be taken in no matter what. anybody know what this code is exactly?

I don't know exactly the temp, but i rember the gauge showing about in the middle, i had been driving 45+ straight minutes on the interstate.

on the fuel question i have no idea, i'm still on the tank the dealership filled it up with. what is the difference between 1 and 2 though?

P0087 is a Low fuel rail pressure code, I'm thinking plugged or gelled fuel filter. Might have to change your fuel filter or park it in the garage tonight .

i'd say it is gelled, i don't see how it could be plugged already, i picked it up yesterday with 68 miles and i think it has 250 now. it is cold as hell out. i never new that diesels did this, is there anything i can put in the fuel to keep it from doing it? i live in central, IL and it gets pretty damn cold A LOT.

Low rail pressure codes are thrown because of a restriction before the injection pump, aftermarket tuners running huge duration, or from the fuel pressure relief valve blowing open.

The way yours happened, it's a restriction in the lines or filter. Filter being my guess.

the difference between 1 and 2, is winterized fuel has additives in it
for the winter... Yes there is different fuel and they also make additives to put in the fuel yourself...
