My stock trucks dose this as well! i started a thread about it but I don't think anyone understood what I was talking about. So you can't fix it? It’s just how the tranny is? Goes like hell all the way through first then blah!?

I think some of this may be specifically due to the G80 rear end. Its a pretty sophisticated piece of equipment. If it senses over a 100rpm difference between the rear tires, it will lock both axle shafts together. From my understanding, there's clutches that engage, so it may feel like some of the power is lost? Correct me if im way off... This might be what your talking about.
check these videos out, they explain the G80...

Read your manual.

If you put the Allison in "M2" it has traction control built in. You can't turn that feature off.

So don't put the indicator into "M2".

im a big fan of reading the manual. i read that part but my truck dose it in drive! I think that manual mode is stupid unless you’re pulling something you’re not supposed to be pulling.

I know the felling. Just finished my first tank of fuel(14.5mpg). I had to show the friends what 660lb/ft felt like. Under WOT it felt like the clutch was slipping then the RPMs would drop and then it would catch. I thought it was the tires breaking loose but the truck stayed straight.

I am glad to hear that this is "normal".

Side note...this truck is fricken awsome!! I am taking the boat to the lake this weekend. Can't wait to see what the D-max/Allison will do through the hills.
