Regen Mode ?

When the truck goes into regen mode does it make the truck idle a little higher than normal. I talked to the guys at ppe because no one at any chevy dealer knows anything about diesels it seems. ppe told me that if it was in regen mode you cant hold your hand behind the exhuast pipe becuase of high temp. it would feel like it would burn or melt your hand. now i understand the heat stuff but my question is does the idle increase a little as well. 2-4 hundred rpms.

Sorry guys, but what is Regen Mode? And does it decrease your MPG. If so, how can you get out of that mode? What causes it to go into that mode?

Yes, it will raise the rpm's a bit. The kodiak's can regen at idle and I've seen it kick the rpm's up to about 1100.

Regen is when the DP filter gets full of soot. The LMM senses this and goes into "regen" mode which uses excess fuel and egt's to superheat the filter. This turns the soot to ash. Yes this hurts your mileage, one of the big reasons the new trucks get poor economy.

During regen mode...if u come to a stop the idle will remain slightly elevated. Ur fuel mileage will drop during regen mode, that is how they elevate the exhaust temp.

thanks guys for responding

My truck was going through regen again all day today. i was not able to drive it to clean it out. it did it on the way to work this morning . when i went to lunch. and when i drove home. i stopped to get dinner in the drive threw and it felt like something else kicked on while i was in regen. i got home pulled in the drive way kept it in gear ,put the parking brake on and felt the exhuast. it was really hot. soon after that i heard the truck change sounds again , and then the idle dropped back to normal. this only happends right after i get on it harder then just cruising it. Does this sound like normal regen ?

Is the edge program the only way to monitor regen. or is there a better programer out there that monitors.
