Got a notice in the mail today to bring my 08 DuraMax in for a new firmware load to the ECM.

Got my letter today, and then went and got the ECM reflashed. It took about 20-30 minutes. The tech said there was about 10-12 updates they had to download.

Talking

Got my letter today also. Dropped my baby off tonight at GMC and they will get it in the morning. Dealer said it takes about 1.5 hours. Did anybody notice a change in driving characteristics or performance?

Why?

Did they tell you what this firmware update
to the ECM was suppose to accomplish? My
08 GMC is running well without any problems.
Do not like the idea of them screwing around
with it.

The letter said there was a programming error on the ECM that could damage the memory and cause a no crank or no start condition. I'm taking mine in Monday to have it done.

Just to give you an update, my truck was completed and is running great. Also, wow - getting more MPG now!!!! I took it out on the interstate and am getting 3-4 more mpg at least and noticed 2-3 more in town. My truck went into regen immediately after I left the dealer for a while and then bam, good mileage. I was getting over 18 and 19 mpg on highway at 70 mph. Not bad in my book for a 4x4 crew cab dually with the a/c running. At 65 MPH I saw 22.4!!!!!!
