A tuner will fix it no problem, the problem is that the dealer can void you warranty for having the tuner on the truck even if all you do is use it for the speedo correction.

Just get a GPS and head out on the interstate and record what the speedo says when the GPS says your going the speed limit. Remember that number and forget about the tuner if you want to keep that warranty. Gale Banks is not going to come to the dealer and give his DPF safe speech to the service writer who is denying your warranty clam.

I have herd but do not know for sure that the dealer can reset your computer for the tire change. (I think you will also have to have this to keep your brake light from coming on due to the longer roll out of the larger tires it will not compute the tire speed to the trans output speed correctly and throw an error).

the dealer should be able to do it for you I would think, also Tyler is right , at least about Banks, my dealer knows my truck pretty good and still honors the warranty and I do not take the Banks 6-gun system off when I go, they said that the Banks system is the only one they will allow without warranty issues...and mine is an '03 though...

What about the Hypertech speedometer calibrator? It looks like the programmer, but only does tire size changes. Do you think they can void my warranty cause of that???

if that one works for the 7.5 and up GM's then ya that should work without any warranty BS. everyone is right in saying that Banks has a good thing going as far as dealers knowing there stuff is good, but the new trucks with the DPF and all that jazz are a whole other animal. Ford flat out told its dealer network that if a 08 so much as has a different exhaust TIP not exhaust just the TIP that the warranty is null and void.
Im not trying to scare you by any means. I just know from experience that when it comes to diesel trucks and power adders of any kind it can get down right nasty at a dealership. I have fought stuff before and in the future I am just going to “Pay To Play” because its not worth it. The truck already has a lift on it and anyone who knows anything about IFS Chevy’s will tell you that 90% of the lifts for those trucks are only good at one thing, wearing out parts prematurely. Even though the hubs go out on stock trucks all the time with 40 to 60 thousand miles on them if yours go out you will be hard pressed to get them replaced under warranty anywhere but the place you bought it from(maybe not even then). Just read SpeedPro’s saga about his truck, and his don’t even have anything done to it but gauges.
