Hey guys, I was just curious on the significance of the DPF on the newer duramax, because my tuner just disabled it on an 09 I believe. He disabled it through the factory comp and manualy removed the filter from the exhaust. The truck (according to the owner) feels faster and picked up 4 mpg. Have any or you messed with this? Sounds like a good idea for the power and mpgs.
mine has been gone for 15k miles no issue more mpgs and power

Well, if anyone in south florida is interested the guy I know that had it done said the tuner offers a DPF delete package, which includes computer and exhaust mods. The shop is mobledynosolutions.com if this helps anyone out.
Had an 08 with DPF 2500HD LTZ CC SWB SRW 4X4
And now have 09 3500HD LTZ CC LWB DRW 4X4 EFI Live and DPF Delete.... And you can tell the difference.
No Regen, better fuel economy, and the larger truck is faster and more responsive than the smaller short bed truck.
The DPF is criminal, uses 15% more fuel, $25% more when towing, all to remove harmless but visible carbon in the exhaust. Greenies again!! Getting it wrong again!!
Anyway, it is fixable... Cheers from Oz, lone Ranger
