DPF Delete question

After talking to the local service manager at the stealership he said it wont void my warranty to take off my DPF and change the exhaust but if I run a performance chip they will void it.....he said when they check my computer when servicing there is a GM part number with each code parameter...if I change that with a chip it will lose that number, even if I turn in back to stock.....what do I need to get rid of my DPF programming, but not have performance tuning to cause a void in warranty....as worthless as that warranty is

You cant, its impossible. If you are worried about warranty, dont do it. Some dealers care, others dont. I suggest finding another dealer to go to.

Sure it can, but it still has to reprogram the ECM in order to shut off regen.

I would talk to your dealer about running the tuner on the factory tuning but removing the DPF. See what they say and maybe they will install the tune so they can verify you didnt add power.

Either way if you ran a high HP tune or a stock tune the dealership will know your ECM has been "tampered" with

just void it and be done. the vast majority of trucks run dpf free are doing so for mileage reasons and have very little HP added and will most likely run just fine way past the factory warranty anyway.

if you void it other things will still be covered like window regulators and things of that nature.

Just bite the bullet and do it. I run a 60 horse tune on the LMM and it does great. It weighs close to 10k with the bed and tools. It performs better than most stock trucks without the weight. I picked up another 3mpg when I did the change over. I realize the warranty is gone now but they are good trucks and I have not seen anyone around here have problems other than abuse.

It is a big decision to void the warranty on a 45K truck, so I understand where you're coming from. If you decide to go ahead, let me know if we can help.
