08 Duramax Fuel Mileage? PPE Programmer?

Hey guys what are some numbers you guys are seeing for fuel mileage. We have a 08 Dodge Mega Cab 6.7l thats getting 17.1mpg, a 2008 Ford F250 6.4l that I'm driving thats getting 15.9mpg. We sold our 05 Duramax that was getting 20-21 consistently. Im looking at a 08 GMC Crewcab 2500 4x4. I have seen that alot of guys have been running a PPE programmer. Are they helping the fuel mileage much? If the GMC will run 18-20 the ford is gone lol. Thanks in advance

Lone Ranger here in Oz....
Having to do the math to convert litres and kilometres, but I been checking and I am getting about the same...

My 08 has about 3600 kms on it, so about the same mileage.. Still all stock.. Our speed limit here is 110 kph about 67 miles/hour and I am getting about 19mpg with my Crew Cab 4x4 2500 Duramax bone stock...

If I slow down to 100-kph 62 mile/hour-(hard, very very hard) I can get 22mpg highway only if I feather it... That is tops I can do and unloaded an not towing... But it is misery so I usually sit on about 110-115 70 mile/hour and get about 18.5 to 19... It all falls in a heap towing or in town, but that is expected...

I am headed for DPF Delete and Tuner and EGR block off...

Best of luck, from Australia

Oh, and from my studies EFI seems to be the most programmable, varied, huge ability to customize...

I want a simple Plug and Play with the tune already done to fly it by our Warranty people and looks like I am going PPE only done to the Tow Safe Mode........

Towing big trailers is our Business in the Outback with Bushtracker.. And the DPF is a killer, plugs up too quick and runs on Regen too often....

And just incase you wanted to know, in your gallons our Diesel cost is now $5.69 Hope that makes you feel better already...: But that is $5.24 in your dollars, not much better...

So if you want to know what I think of the Greenies sticking us with DPF and EGR and 0 Degrees before TDC timing for NOX ..... With about 15% worse fuel economy?????

Here Greenie, Greenie, check this gas emission:

Regards, last or lost or lone Ranger in Oz..........

Actually, with the right tuner, those twin turbos on the ford really come alive and its a LOT more efficient!

the twins aren't made for mileage the small one builds boost for the bigger one kicks in when towing. So small is bottom end big is top end

My mileage with dpf delete is 17.7 mixed city and istate 10k on truck

that would be a compound setup not twin turbo setup on the Ford and some of the best fuel economy you'll see of a new 6.4L with the DPF deleted and a custom SCT tune you will not see over 17MPG..
most guys gain an average of 2-3MPG with the PPE pragrammers a up to 6 MPG gain with the DPF deleted..
