ok i use to have a powerstroke and was prety mean i kept up with alot of duramax and cummins around my neck of the woods. this is my first duramax what i want to do is hit about 650hp and 900ft lbs torque. how and what would i have to do to achieve this goal safley.

Also head studs, connecting rods and pistons. 550 to 600 seems to be about the maximum on internal engine components on average. There are people running more then that on stock internals but you said safely so I would think rods and studs minimum. Also twins or duals cp3's or another big charger to get you over the 600rwhp mark.
LMM with stock turbo and supporting mods(trans, lift pump, exhaust) = 530RWHP with EFI Live. Anything over that and you'll need more air from a turbo upgrade.
I've run two different twin turbo trucks with stock internals for years of abuse without trouble. Current one dynos 650HP on stock internals for over a year, 100+ 11-12 sec. 1/4 mile passes, and 15k miles at this level.
