K does anyone have any tips on how to remove the FPRV from the engine without rounding the head. I cannot get enough torque on it to break free, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Alright so I finally have time to work on my truck and put in the FPRV shim kit. I was finally able to break it loose, and now I have a question. I've been driving the truck for a couple weeks and pulling a skid loader around and I know that I've been popping the valve numerous times. So I was just going to put on a new FPRV with the PPE shim kit but found out a '08 FPRV cost about $600. So to ensure that I don't have any future issues should I put in the 3rd shim that comes in the kit that is suppose to be put on only with the duramaxamizer kit. Thanks for the help.

I went ahead with the two shims in the FPRV mainly due to the recommendation from a local shop. They told me even though it may be slightly weaker due to multiple compression, it would actually make it weaker in the long run if I put all three shims in. So I put in two and put it back in and took it out this morning, and I'm very pleased to find that that was all my truck needed. The tranny still has to relearn the shift points because now it has all the fuel it needs at higher rpms. But I still took a new '08 mustang GT without even tryin. So I'm very happy with my results so far and with post up latter with my new improved MPG's or any issues that I have. Thanks for all the help.

im confused! banks says to use a 7/16 drill bit for the manifold hole and tap it with a 1/4 inch tap. how will this work considering 7/16 hole is bigger than a 1/4 in tap?

im installing the egt sensor

wildman, yea i noticed that little piece of miss information as well during my install. I went ahead with the BD performance exhaust manifold, not only because they already have a hole pre-tapped for the egt sensor, but they are also alot less restristed then the stock manifold. When they designed the factory manifold they thought there would be a clearance issue between the manifold and the steering shaft, but there is not, so all they really did is put the engine out of balance due to the restricted flow. Also I have heard horror stories about getting shavings from tapping that hole into the manifold and making their way to your turbo and doing some real damage.

Hoov, Good luck with the install, I know that you'll enjoy the power gains, good idea goin with the BD manifold, little more work but worth it. Only piece of advise that I have is take your time working your way up to a higher power level, give your tranny plenty of time to re-learn shifting points with the additional power. Oh and plan on putting in an FPRV shim kit if you get above power level 4. Are you gettin the Six-Gun with the PDA? if not I would hold off and spend the extra money, well worth it. Let me know If you have any questions with your install, I will try to help, good luck.
