EGT's/ Pyrometers/ Limits before meltdown

Well, I just installed the PPE hot race and 4'' magnaflow turbo back. What a world of difference. It took me alittle while to figure out how to remove the old exaust without cutting it.(Not on a lift) It is possible, if you are scratching your head send me a PM and I'll tell ya.
I am looking for a small square digital pyrometer gauge to mount near the bottom of the windshield on the left hand side. Out of sight out of mind. I have not been able to find any such animal. If anyone out there knows of anything that looks good (I dont like the pillar mount) please let me know.
When I do find a pyrometer, whats the temp just before damage?

about 1250 for extended periods. You can go higher than that, but don't keep it there long.

I still have my dpf and pull a 24' enclosed weighing around 8500lbs and I see 1300 deg egt's when going up small hills running 70 mph. I'm going tb exh probably in the next month, hope to drop the egt's and pickup the mpg.

I just installed mbpr TB exhaust and PPE Hot +2 ET Race. Pulled my boat today on level six. EGT up to 1400 at most and I will back off. I had a "engine power down on my display" but no code. Scracting my head with that. truck seems fine. I would like to see cooler temps. I may just tow in a lower tune. I really don't want to se any more than 1350.

Level six is going to give you some hot temps while pulling. Your gonna have to back down to level 2-3 tow tow. What year truck do you have?

I have a 2007.5 LMM. DPF Delete. Just found the copper hose for tubo guage came at the turbo Hose (metal housing). Looks like the threads stripped and just blew off. Not sure if it was a bad install or me.

I'll try to answer the other question. I know EDGE makes a device called the Outlook monitor. You can hook EGT up to it, and it's not a programmer. And Quadzilla makes a similar product. You can have a small square digital gauge.

On the gauge thing. I didn't want pillar gauges either. I ended up with mounting a pyrometer in the cubby hole by below the radio. There is a nice looking mount you can buy that fits and looks good. Here is a picture.
Just another option.
