So I'm looking for the best 5", 3 bolt flange down pipe back, no muffler, stainless steel exhaust for my 2016 Denali. I will buy a polished tip seperate but I want the welded hangers and higher end clamps than just the normal U-bolt style. I've checked out Magnaflow, AFE, Flo Pro, Diamond Eye, MBRP and RBP. It seems most companies don't even make full delete exhaust anymore.
So Flo Pro has the nice clamps with two bolts each not the U-Bolt style ones? I've used those in the past and they end up crimping the exhaust together so that you can't remove them because the U Shape dents the exhaust together.
I have the 5" Flo~pro with no muffler and the exhaust drone is terrible when towing a heavy load. I tow around 10,000 lbs when I go camping. Cruising around 60-65mph at a certain RPM the cab noise from the drone is super loud. But when I'm not towing there's no drone and when I get on the pedal it sounds badass. Not sure what a muffler would do for my situation, I might give it a try next year.
I too am looking for a exhaust system for my 2016 lml.
I would love to go full delete but since it's so new and has a warranty and I live in California were you get tax breaks on having your smog equipment on your vehicle I need/want to keep everything.
Does not being deleted help with drone?
I would think a muffler would help with drone as compared to not having one but I would also be led to belive going through a cat and DPF would also quite it down.
Ultimately I am just looking for a little grunt at idle and when I get on it.
A drone can come from any downpipe back exhaust (w/ or w/o muffler 4" or 5"). You want drone free do just a DPF delete pipe or do a downpipe back exhaust with a FTE 17 or 30" resonator/muffler.
By just doing a DPF delete it will only sound different when you get on it. Downpipe back will sound different at idle & when you get on it. Add the FTE 17 or 30" muffler/resonator & it will sound like sound stock on the inside but the outside will sound good.
