Managed to do this today. Top Mod for free. the one thing I've always hated in american cars. I removed the front bezel and just lifted the upper part of column a bit to fit a crewdriver in and turn and lift the switch off. SWEET

Yes you do, not a big deal at all, just start around the edges and start gently pulling away from the dash and try to bring it out somewhat evenly as you go. It just snaps off and just pops back on when done. Found it helps to tilt steering wheel down and pull gear shifter all the way down to first.
The colum is a little harder to get apart. You need to get the top piece off, the bottom will stay pretty much where it is
I started a thread the other day on that annoying damn chime...Thanks for posting and experimenting with it..Now I'll be able to keep the doors opened, instead of rolling my windows down..Good write up,and pics help a lot!!!We need to stick this in the DIY sect....You've done a good job!!!

Good info. Just to add a little bit more the lower black plug in those pictures is the passlock plug, Cutting those wires is not good. Also there is no pin switches in door jambs anymore. Its all in the latch inside the door, you could unplug the correct plug in there but your interior lights would be disabled along with idiot lights in the dash on. Just my .02
