Door chime

Does anybody know if door chime can be turned off / disabled. I dont want it on. It is on low. I just want it to go away. Is there a wire in or to factory radio that can be removed, or powered, or grounded, or ? This is for 06 2500 SLT. Any help would be nice. Thanks in advance

Just find the thing and cut the wires... pretty simple, or take it out. Mine on my ol 92 is just a little black box under the dash. I took mine out and proceeded to kill my battery less than a week later by leaving my lights on. cuz it didn't squeal to warn me!! So needless to say... I put it back in!!

Door chime

Thank you, but the newer trucks run the door chime threw the factory stereo and speakers. Truck has auto headlights so not even close to being worried about leaving them on and killing battery. Still want to find out how to disable door chime, somebody has to know. Thanks

yeah, thats right, but it only goes from totally obnoxious to 'only' insanely irritating in volume....

I have been looking around about this and I belive the only way to solve this problem is to find the wire that is sending the signal to the driver side door speaker....and cut it... Now just going in and start cutting wires until it stops dinging is not the way to do this of course.. There is a lot of security wires that lead to your factory radio along with Onstar and your steering wheel controls just to name a few... But I am thinking that using a multimeter you should be able to do this safely... My plan was to slide out the factory radio to where all the wires are exposed, then turning the key on with the door open to make the chime on...then by grounding the negitive side of the multimeter and then to start breeching the wire insulation with the positive side of the multimeter (just by poking the sharp end into the insulation not cutting any insulation off) and start checking which wire has a pulsing spike, then cut and tape up secure..

By all means this is just my idea, and trying this on your truck is your own risk..

but I belive it to work

it goes to the factory radio. the only way to stop the chime is to put a aftermarket radio in and get a chevy harness adapter and on the adapter there will be a volume controle. turn it down right there. that is how I did mine.
