Heater Control Problems

I have been having issues with my heater controls for the past while, similar to the issues in the following thread:

heat/ac controls aren't working?

It all started when I took the truck into the dealer for the standard hot on one side cold on the other issue. After a 3K repair bill everything seemed to be fine...until I needed the heater.

Now the climate control will only blow hot air when the temp control is maxed. It does blow hot air, there is just no ability to control the temp, you either get hot air (temp maxed) or cold air(any other setting).

I don't really want to take it back to the dealer since they want to charge $100 just to diagnose... they claim that since I didn't complain for the past 4 months it is a new problem.

I have tried:

Disconnecting the battery cables to reset the computer

Pulling the HVAC Fuse (this seemed to work for a min before it started blowing cold air again)

Replacing the Head control Unit with one from the wreckers.

I have a real Hate On for the dealer and want to do whatever possible before taking it back. Any advice?

How long did you leave the battery disconnected? I've read somewhere that you should leave it for a while like 20 minutes or something... Worth a try maybe.

I would seriously argue that. Like stand in there showroom floor and b!tch. Im not the type to argue but that bull s&%t. Go to the dealer and ask them if they do alot of a/c charges in january and february?! Its not a/c season. Why would you touch the heat in the summer months?!

That looks like the next option, I left the battery cables off last night and there was no change this morning...
