Water in Fuel Light

OK so Ive been fighting with this for a while and its driving me crazy.

My water in fuel light started showing up on the dash so the first thing I did was check the tank and there is no water in there. I then replaced the Fuel Filter and WIF sensor and reset the Fuel Filter on the dash. The light didnt show up for a day then started showing up again. I disconnected the WIF sensor wires and reset the fuel filter again and the light is still popping up on the dash.

What options do I have to get rid of this?

try to unplug the sensor and put a jumper wire between the two terminals and tie it up somewhere it won't get damaged. This should make the light go out. Drive with it for awhile and see if the light comes back on. If it does come back on, you may have a wire in that harness rubbed through and grounding out somewhere. Check it over and see if there's any rubbed, exposed wires. If you find them and they're not broken you can reseal them with good results.

The first time I changed my fuel filter I banged the WIF sensors float and it stopped moving up and down easly.I freed it up a fue times and then it would stick after a bit.I just bought a new one for $12 or so at the dealership.I was having the same symptems as you are.
