Need Help Please!!!

Hello Diesel Fans,

I am a dealer trying to help one of my customers with a problem with his early model Duramax.

He has been having a burnt oil/fuel smell coming from the front of the vehicle. Smells like fried food in a way. We have checked nearly everything that relates to this, but I am looking to make it right for my customer. The smell is driving them nuts!

Some facts to consider:

1. He runs AmsOil in everything in the truck; tranny, engine, etc.

2. He had oil coming out of that bypass tube in the front of the motor. He since has cleaned it up, yet the smell persists.

3. No other noticeable leaks other than the oil pan which is about to be repaired.

4. You can smell it really bad it the front driver's side wheel well.

5. The smell has come on since the warmer weather came, 30-40 degrees, for only about the last month or so.

If there is any other information that can help out, let me know.

Hope you diesel folks can help me out!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

~Lew

Lew,

Have a close look on or near the drivers side exhaust manifold to see if there is a dead animal in there. This could be the problem because sometimes cats or other small animals are attracted to the engine's warmth on cold nights. LOL
