Auto Headlights

I have the auto headlight. I have the off switch on my console for them but i turn the knob and it just goes back to auto it won't stay on off. How can i turn my headlights off in the dark when i want them to go off? This is a 2004.5 so the dome light trick does not work!

even though the switch goes back to auto the lights should go off

you have to hit the dome override button a couple of times but once you shut the truck off and turn it back on auto will be engaged again i dont think there is a way to turn off the auto mode

Flip the switch back one click and the lights will go off. The switch will still be in the auto position so next time you start the truck they will come back on. That or pull the DTRL (day time running lamps) fuse.

try your e brake as well

I think if a truck is a Canadian build it wot let you override. Mine works great.

all u do is push the overdrive button 2 or 3 times like they said and u can manually switch the lights from there...then do it again to go back to auto

X2 on what jcline said. My 02 the dome lite overide three times shuts the auto off until you either do the dome overide again 3 times, cycle the head light switch or the ignition key.

The button only works on the 01-02's when they switched the body style they took that all away.

Cycling the override switch enough will do the trick,I use just my fog lights and the park lights like this...like they said though,you'll have to cycle the switch each time you shut her down.....
