battery issues

okey dokey...late last year replaced alternator and both batteries....last month pass side battery started seeping acid....took battery back and got new one. bosch hd batteries. now new battery same thing. seeping from seam...another bad battery or how does the charging system work? any ideas dmax gurus? 2005 k2500.

Sounds like overcharging. I had a similar problem in my Suburban. It took a long time and many batteries before we realized the alternator was overcharging..... Even with a fairly new one I would check it out really well, maybe even pull it out and bench test it.

I am going with an overcharging condition. But the only way you will be able to tell that is a charing system test at the dealer or another like shop.

only overcharging one of them? the other battery does not have any issues.

apparently i am havin the same problem,i had the alternater checked they said it was ok,but my gauge shows about 17 when running.

17 is overcharging it should be at 14 to 14.5 even as low as 13 sometimes but never 17.

Yeah, I just bought 2 new batteries for 'ol Betsy. Noticed the gauge was "actin funny" so I had 'em check the altenator.It was fine,Checked each battery individually, both showin signs of goin bad. Replaced them both, everything back to normal. Gauge should read 14-14.5 volts. Never 17!!
