Question Selected Gear Display on dash problem.

The display under the guages that shows what gear you are in sometimes just goes out. Everything else works on the dash. It started happening about a year ago. Only seems to do it in hot weather. Anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks

If I had to guess this would most likely be related to the NSBU (Neutral start backup switch) its where the linkage on the shifter goes to, on the side of the transmission. They're a pretty common failure on the 5 speed allison. Not to bad of a fix, you just have to get it lined up just right for it to work correctly.

Yes it would! That is what turns them on. So I'm pretty sure thats the problem.

Its about a $60 part from your auto parts store. Takes about 15 minutes to do.

very cool, thanks guys for the good info. I have been getting tired of trying to find the bad spot in the wire going to my reverse lights. This might knock out two problems with one quick repair.
