Anybody ever use a caddy rear air ride air compressor for a on board pump. I have one on the shelf and want to install rear airbags for towing and was wondering if anybody ever tried it? It sounds good logically. Technically its still GM too.

It should work...My son's Trailblazer SS has the onboard compressor....Keeps the air-bags properly inflated...

I'm not sure, but if you put a load in the back of the Trailblazer the compressor automatically kicks on to level the truck. Same thing happens if you fill up the truck with a few heavy people. Not sure if there is an adjustment, or if it an automatic leveling system...

Here is a switch device from Solico made specifically to detect tilt and thus, could be wired such that when the vehicle is "tilted" by a loaded condition, the switch engages the compressor - or better yet, opens a solenoid valve to allow air from a reserve tank - to inflate the air ride bags until the vehicle is leveled.
just plumb the compressor to a tank and put a 110/145 pressure switch on it.

just plumb the compressor to a tank and put a 110/145 pressure switch on it.
Here's what I did:
I used a 90-110 psi low pressure switch for normal operations and when I need high pressure, I flip a switch inside the cab and the 110-170 psi pressure switch governs the belt-driven compressor to pump to 170psi to inflate large truck and equipment tires.
